How much dating apps cost, and why most of them never stop

Hinge, Bumble and eHarmony all charge by subscription. Here is roughly what each costs, how each one renews, and how that compares with paying once.

The short answer

In the US, Hinge’s paid tiers run from about $15 to $50 a month, Bumble’s from about $17 to $60 a month, and eHarmony’s from about $25 to $75 a month on terms of six months or more. All three renew automatically. Date to Marry has no subscription: you pay once, $119.99 in the US app or $99.99 on the web, the first time you accept an introduction, and it covers every introduction until you marry.

Why the subscription matters more than the price

A subscription is paid for as long as you are single. That is not a criticism of anyone’s staff; it is just arithmetic. The member who finds someone in a month pays for a month. The member who is still looking in three years pays for three years. A business paid this way earns most from the people it helps least, and every product decision is made under that pressure.

It also shapes what you are sold. Hinge and Bumble both sell extra visibility: roses, boosts, spotlights, a better place in the queue. When visibility is for sale, the people who do not pay are seen less.

What Date to Marry costs

  • ▸Free: downloading, answering the questions, verifying your identity, and being matched.
  • ▸One payment the first time you accept an introduction: $119.99 in the US app, $99.99 on this website, and between €23.99 and €119.99 elsewhere, by the country of your app store account. The price is set by purchasing power, so it asks roughly the same of everyone.
  • ▸It never renews. It covers every introduction until you marry, and searching again after a relationship ends costs nothing.
  • ▸Nothing else is for sale to a single member: no boosts, no upgrades, no paid visibility.

The full terms, including refunds where the law provides them, are on what Date to Marry costs.

Before you pay for any dating app

Three questions are worth asking of any of them, including us:

  • ▸Does it renew, and for how long? A six-month plan that renews for another six months is a twelve-month cost if you forget.
  • ▸What do the people who do not pay get? If they are seen less, so are you when you stop paying.
  • ▸Does the business do well when you leave? For someone who wants to marry, that is the only question that really matters.

Questions

How much does Hinge cost?

Hinge is free to use with limits. Its paid tiers were reported in September 2026 at about $29.99 for one month of Hinge+ and $49.99 for one month of HingeX in the US, with lower monthly rates on three and six month plans paid upfront. Hinge sets prices by person, so yours may differ.

How much does Bumble cost?

Bumble is free to use with limits. In September 2026 Bumble Boost was reported at about $17 a month and Bumble Premium at about $55 to $60 a month in the US, or about $120 for three months. Prices vary by age, city and device.

How much does eHarmony cost?

eHarmony’s paid plans are sold in terms of 6, 12 or 24 months, paid upfront or in instalments. Reported US totals in 2026 ranged from about $270 for six months to over $1,000 for two years, and plans renew automatically for another full term unless cancelled.

Is there a dating app with no subscription?

Yes. Date to Marry has no subscription. Joining, verification and being matched are free. You pay once, the first time you accept an introduction: $119.99 in the US app or $99.99 on the website, and €119.99 or less elsewhere, depending on the country of your app store account. It covers every introduction until you marry, and it never renews.

Which dating app is worth paying for?

The one whose business does well when you do. A subscription earns most from the members who stay longest, which is the opposite of what someone who wants to marry is paying for. Whatever you choose, check whether the price renews, for how long, and what you get if you do not pay.
