We do not publish a member count or a success rate. The app is new, and a number chosen to look impressive on a page arguing for honesty would be worth less than no number.

Boilerplate

One line

Date to Marry is a marriage-first dating app that introduces one verified match at a time, chosen on values rather than photographs.

Short

Date to Marry is a dating app built for people whose goal is marriage. Instead of a feed, members are introduced to one compatible person at a time, with a written explanation of why. Every member verifies a government-issued ID before they can be matched, and the questions that decide a marriage — children, faith, location, timeline, household finances — are answered before anyone meets. Unusually, the app continues after the match, with a private partner journal, guided conversation, date-night questions, private monthly check-ins. A counsellor directory and a mentor community are being built and are not open yet. It charges once on joining rather than by subscription, and returns most of that if it fails to bring a member a relationship within a year.

On the incentive argument

Subscription dating apps earn revenue for as long as a member stays single, which quietly aligns the business against the outcome the member came for. Date to Marry charges a single payment on joining, with no subscription and nothing else to buy, and refunds most of it if it does not bring the member a relationship within twelve months.

Story angles we can speak to

  • Why subscription pricing quietly aligns a dating company against the outcome its members want, and what charging once changes.
  • Verification: what a blue tick actually certifies on most apps, and the gap between a face and an identity.
  • What a dating product could do after the introduction, and why almost none of them do anything at all.
  • Marriage-intent dating as a category — who it serves, and why the options were a swipe app or a matrimony site with nothing in between.

We are happy to talk about whether it works, including the parts that do not yet.
